Dr. Shiobhan Weston received her medical degree from The Royal College of Surgeons in 1992. She completed her internship and residency in general medicine as well as one year as a registrar in hepatology at The Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. She left Ireland in 1996 and completed her ABIM requirements in internal medicine and subspecialty training in gastrointestinal motility disorders, cholestatic liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease at The Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by a 3 year fellowship in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at UCLA and the UCLA-Dumont Transplant Center in Los Angeles, California. She was awarded an advanced hepatology research fellowship award and funding for formal training in clinical research, epidemiology, biostatistics, and liver transplant medicine at University of San Francisco, California. Her research more recently has focused on the study of metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
